Passing target: 80% (32/40)
A school bus stops for children on the other side of the road, facing you. Its red lights flash and its stop arm is out. On which road may you go on past it with caution, without stopping?
Four unselected road diagrams show A approaching a stopped oncoming school bus with red lamps and its STOP arm out: a two-lane road, a four-lane road with a center turn lane, a four-lane road with double yellow lines, and a four-lane highway with a grass median.
Correct answer: A four-lane highway with a grass median between the two roadways
Why
The exception applies only when the roadways are divided by a space or a barrier that is not suitable for vehicles. On every other road, traffic from both directions stops for a school bus with red lights and a stop arm. When you go past on a divided highway, still slow down and watch for children near the road.
