Leo is 16 and has an Intermediate Restricted license. At 10:30 p.m., he wants to drive home alone from a friend's house. The trip takes 10 minutes. He has no letter for work or a school event, and no parent is with him. What is true?
Correct answer: He can drive home, because his limit starts at 11 p.m.
Why
Night driving is harder for new drivers because they see less and are often tired. From 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., an Intermediate Restricted driver can drive only with a parent or guardian, with a licensed driver age 21 or older whom a parent names in writing, to or from work or a school event with a parent's letter, or to or from hunting or fishing from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. with a valid license. A driver who uses a forged letter loses the intermediate license and goes back to a learner permit until age 18.
