Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You finish parallel parking next to a curb on a city street. Before you get out, you check your position. What is the farthest that your car may be from the curb?
Blue car A has parallel parked beside a curb; the image asks about the gap from its right tires.
Correct answer: 18 inches from the curb
Why
A car close to the curb leaves the full travel lane for moving traffic, so other drivers do not have to swerve around it. If your car is too far out, pull forward and back into the space again. Before you open the driver door, check for traffic behind you, and get out only when the lane is clear.
