Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You park facing downhill on a street with a curb, and you set the parking brake. How should you set the front wheels?
Blue car A is parked downhill with the curb on its right and parking brake set. A small line shows the slope.
Correct answer: Turn them toward the curb, to the right.
Why
On any hill, set the wheels so that a car that rolls goes into the curb or off the road, not into traffic. Downhill, the front of the tire catches the curb when the wheels point right. Also set the parking brake, and leave an automatic transmission in park or a manual transmission in gear.
