The lights at a railroad crossing start to flash as you approach, and there is no stop line. Where must you stop your vehicle?
A approaches an active railroad crossing without a stop line. Alternating red lamps are shown; no stopping range or chosen stop appears.
Correct answer: At least 15 feet but not more than 50 feet from the nearest rail
Why
A stop at least 15 feet back keeps your vehicle clear of the train, and within 50 feet you can still see and hear the tracks. Never stop on the tracks, and do not go until the lights stop and all tracks are clear. A train at 55 mph can need about a mile to stop, so it cannot stop for you.
