Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You back out of your driveway in a neighborhood where children often play. Your car has a backup camera. What is the safest way to back out?
Correct answer: Look behind the car first, then back slowly while you keep looking back
Why
Small children can be hidden right behind a car, below the rear window and outside the view of the mirrors. A camera helps, but it does not show the sides of the car, and it cannot replace your own look. Back slowly, because you steer and stop less well in reverse, and Texas law lets you back up only when you can do it safely without getting in the way of other traffic.
