Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You parallel park on a two-way street. When you get out, you see that your right wheels are about 24 inches from the curb. What is true?
Blue A has parallel parked facing east beside the right curb of a two-way street. A neutral bracket measures the 24-inch gap from the right wheels to the curb.
Correct answer: It is too far, because the limit is 18 inches from the curb.
Why
A car that sticks out from the curb narrows the lane, can be hit by passing traffic, and puts your door farther into the lane when you get out. Aim for about six inches from the curb. If you end up too far out, pull out and try again.
