Passing target: 70% (28/40)
On a road with two lanes in each direction, two bicyclists ride side by side in the right lane. Cars can pass them easily in the left lane. What is true?
Two cyclists B and C ride abreast, completely within the outside right lane of a road with two lanes in each direction. Blue A follows them, and the adjacent same-direction left lane is clear. No third rider, single-file arrangement, shoulder route or legal judgement appears.
Correct answer: They ride lawfully, because they stay in one lane and traffic can move past them.
Why
On a road with marked lanes, bicyclists who ride two abreast must stay within a single lane. Riding two abreast may not impede the normal and reasonable flow of traffic; if it does, the riders must change position, for example to single file. When you pass bicyclists, change lanes only when it is safe and give them plenty of room.
