Passing target: 70% (28/40)
You drive on a five-lane street. The center lane has yellow lines on both sides and white left-turn arrows that point in both directions. A slow truck is ahead of you in your lane. How may you use the center lane?
A follows a slow white truck B in the inner right-hand travel lane of a five-lane street. The middle lane has yellow edges and white left-turn arrows for opposite directions. No route or permitted use is selected.
Correct answer: Enter it only where you can slow or stop there for a left turn
Why
Drivers from both directions share this left-turn lane, so a car in it can come straight toward you. Enter it close to your turn, so that you slow down out of the way of the traffic behind you, and look for a car that uses the lane from the other direction. A long drive in the center lane, or a pass in it, can lead to a head-on crash.
