Your car's turn signal lights stop working on the way home. You plan to turn right at the next corner. Which hand-and-arm signal should you give?
A approaches a right-side corner. The card says that the turn-signal lights have stopped working and the driver plans a right turn. No arm, window side, hand pose or route is selected.
Correct answer: Left arm out of the window, bent upward at the elbow
Why
Texas drivers give hand-and-arm signals from the left side of the vehicle: arm straight out for a left turn, arm up for a right turn, and arm down to stop or slow down. Begin the signal well before the turn and hold it until others can see your plan, then put both hands on the wheel to turn. Hand signals are hard to see at night, so repair failed signal lights soon.
