Passing target: 70% (28/40)
You drive on a two-lane street in a city behind a slow car. The center line is broken, and no oncoming traffic is in sight. An intersection is 80 feet ahead. May you pass now?
A follows slower B on a two-lane city street. A broken yellow centerline separates the empty oncoming lane. An 80 ft bracket runs from A’s front to the near edge of the intersection ahead. No passing or stay-behind route is shown.
Correct answer: No. You may not drive on the left side within 100 feet of an intersection.
Why
Near an intersection, vehicles can pull out from the side street, and the car ahead may turn left just as you pass. The limit is about where your car is on the left side, so a pass that ends just before the intersection is still too close. Wait until you are past the intersection and the road ahead is clear.
