Passing target: 70% (28/40)
On a road with two lanes in your direction, a motorcycle ahead of you rides in the left part of the right lane. There seems to be enough space for your car beside it in the same lane. What should you do?
A follows motorcycle B on a road with two lanes in their direction. B rides in the left portion of the right lane, leaving visible room to its right within that lane. No passing path or instruction is shown.
Correct answer: Stay behind the motorcycle, or pass it only by using the other lane
Why
Texas law gives a motorcycle rider the full use of a lane, and a driver may not drive in a way that takes part of that lane away. Riders often move within the lane to avoid potholes, gravel, wind gusts or wet spots, so they need all of it. To pass, change to the other lane as you would for a car, and keep a long following gap behind a motorcycle.
