Official test facts
Utah DLD publishes a closed-book first-time written knowledge test with 50 questions, an 80% passing score and no time limit. It allows no more than two attempts in one day.
Official sourceThe audited current Utah sources do not publish a road-sign subtotal, separate sign minimum, answer-choice count or universal question type. Those fields remain unspecified.
Official sourceThis practice mock uses ten traffic-control questions and 40 rules questions. That allocation is a Trusted Local Auto study choice; the 50-question total and 40-correct target follow Utah's published first-time format.
Official sourceUtah's separate Traffic Safety and Trends Exam requires 100%, but its question count is unpublished and its result must not be combined with the written knowledge-test score.
Official sourceSource and review method: question content is stored with its source metadata and remains outside public practice until it is published. Official-format facts on this page were reviewed on 2026-08-15 against Utah Driver Handbook and the linked licensing authority pages.
Yes. All 247 questions, with their answers and explanations, are free, and so are the 6 numbered practice tests. You do not need an account to practise. You get 1 free exam simulation, and 2 with a free account. A free account also keeps your progress on all your devices. The optional Exam Pass is a one-time payment for one test and 90 days, not a subscription. It adds practice tools: practice by topic, practice of missed and saved questions until you get them right, more exam simulations, a timed exam simulator and a chance-to-pass score.
