Warning, Construction & Information SignsStandalone practice
On a rural road you pass this sign. Trees and a hill block your view of the road ahead, and you do not see any lights or gates. What should you do?

Correct answer: Slow down, look and listen for a train, and be ready to stop
Why
A train cannot stop quickly, and it may be closer and faster than it looks. If a train approaches or a signal warns of one, Utah law requires you to stop no closer than 15 feet and no farther than 50 feet from the nearest rail. Crossings on rural roads often have only signs, with no lights or gates, so your own eyes and ears are the main warning.
