You adjust the driver's seat before a trip. The steering wheel has an air bag. How should you sit?
An empty driver’s seat, steering wheel and pedals are shown from the open side door. The card asks about seat distance and posture for the steering-wheel air bag.
Correct answer: About 10 inches or more from the wheel, with your back straight against the seat
Why
Air bags work with safety belts; they do not replace them. Move the driver and front passenger seats as far back as practical, while you can still reach the pedals easily. The top of the steering wheel should be below your chin, and the headrest should touch the back of your head above your ears.
