In a store parking lot, you back into a parked car and dent its door. No one is in the car, and you cannot find the owner in the store. What must you do?
Correct answer: Securely attach a note in plain view with your name, address and vehicle plate number
Why
The note lets the owner contact you about the damage. A secure note in plain view is less likely to blow away or be missed. If the damage appears to be $2,500 or more, you must also notify law enforcement right away. Leaving without meeting these duties is a crime.
