During a check before a long trip, you see the cords of one tire showing through the tread. The tire still holds air. What should you do?
A mounted tire retains its round shape. A worn patch on the tread exposes a group of pale cords beneath the rubber, beside remaining tread grooves.
Correct answer: Replace the tire before you drive, because it is in an unsafe condition
Why
Tires are the only part of the car that touches the road, so worn tires affect braking, steering and grip on wet roads. The manual tells you to check the tires before a trip and to keep good pressure and tread. For the driving skills test, the vehicle must also have tires with no bald spots.
