Passing target: 80% (16/20)
At a four-way stop, you come to a full stop first. A moment later, a car stops on the road to your right, and then a pickup stops across from you. All three drivers want to go straight. Who should go first?
At a four-way stop, A faces west, silver B approaches from A’s right at the north, and silver pickup C faces A from the opposite approach. A factual card gives their stop order.
Correct answer: You, because you stopped first, once you see that the intersection is clear.
Why
At a four-way stop, every driver must come to a full stop. The first vehicle to arrive should then go first, and the others follow in the order in which they arrived. If two vehicles from different directions stop at about the same time, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. Whatever the order, you must still yield to pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles already in the intersection before you go.
