Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You approach a red-and-white triangle sign that points down, where your road meets a busy street. A bicyclist on that street is about to pass in front of you, with a car close behind. What should you do?

Correct answer: Slow down, stop if needed, and let the bicyclist and the car pass
Why
A YIELD sign does not always require a stop, but it always requires you to give way. Virginia law says to slow to a reasonable speed and to stop at the yield or stop line if that is necessary for safety. Bicyclists are easy to misjudge, because they are narrow and can move faster than you expect. Enter only when you can do so without making anyone brake or swerve.
