Passing target: 85% (34/40)
On a two-lane road with no center line, you follow a slow farm tractor up a hill. No sign prohibits passing, but you cannot see over the crest. What should you do?
A follows a slow farm tractor B on an unmarked two-lane road. An inset side profile shows the hillcrest and is labelled not to scale.
Correct answer: Wait until you can see far enough past the crest to pass safely
Why
Passing is also unlawful on curves, at intersections and at railroad crossings, unless your side of the road has two or more lanes for your direction. A vehicle that comes over the crest can close the gap very quickly, and you then have no place to go. When you follow a slow vehicle, stay back far enough to see around it and wait for a safe place to pass.
