Passing target: 80% (32/40)
You drive on a city street with cars parked along both sides. Which way of scanning to the front is best on this street?
A follows silver B; silver C and E are parked close to opposite curbs, and pedestrian D stands beside C. No scan target is marked.
Correct answer: Watch past the car ahead, and look for feet, wheels or shadows near parked cars
Why
A good forward scan covers the whole scene, near and far. It finds objects that you must steer around, things that can hide a pedestrian or a bicyclist, and events beyond the vehicle ahead. When you see these clues early, you avoid last-second braking or swerving, so keep a speed that lets you scan well.
