Passing target: 80% (32/40)
You want to park at the curb on a city street, just before an intersection with a marked crosswalk. No sign or curb paint gives a different rule. How far back from the crosswalk must your vehicle be?
A approaches a curbside parking area before a marked crosswalk. No parking boundary or distance is identified in the question.
Correct answer: At least 20 feet
Why
A vehicle parked close to a crosswalk hides people who are about to cross, and it hides approaching traffic from them. The Washington Driver Guide lists no parking on a crosswalk, and RCW 46.61.570 adds the 20-foot distance. Do not mix it up with the other distances in the same law: 15 feet from a fire hydrant, and 30 feet before a stop sign, yield sign or traffic signal.
