Passing target: 80% (32/40)
On a two-lane road, you use the oncoming lane to pass a slower car where passing is allowed. When may you move back into the right lane?
A is in the oncoming lane while passing a silver car. No return point or passing-completion route is marked.
Correct answer: When you are safely clear of the passed car and have room ahead of it
Why
Use the left side of a two-lane road only to pass, and only where you can see that the oncoming lane is clear for the whole pass. Washington law requires you to return to your lane as soon as practicable, and before you come within 200 feet of an oncoming vehicle. Plan the whole pass before you start, and do not begin one if you are not sure that you can finish in time.
