Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You drive past this SPEED LIMIT 55 sign on a dry, clear highway in light traffic. Which speed choice follows the law?

Correct answer: Up to 55 mph, and slower when conditions call for it
Why
A speed limit sign gives the maximum lawful speed for good conditions. The basic speed rule still applies: never drive faster than is reasonable for the conditions, even below the limit. A very slow speed that blocks normal traffic can also be a hazard, and some roads post a minimum speed.
