Passing target: 80% (32/40)
You want to go straight through a corner with no painted crosswalk lines. A pedestrian steps off the curb and starts to cross in front of your lane. What must you do?
A blue car approaches a corner with no crosswalk paint. A pedestrian has stepped from the curb into the roadway ahead of A.
Correct answer: Stop and stay stopped, because the corner is a legal crosswalk without paint
Why
Washington law treats every intersection as a crosswalk, whether or not lines are painted. Wait until the pedestrian has cleared your lane and one more lane, and if the person uses a wheelchair, a cane, or a guide dog, wait until the person has crossed the whole street. Do not pass a vehicle that has stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
