Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are crossing an intersection on a green light and are in the middle of it. An ambulance with its siren on and its lights flashing comes up behind you. What should you do?
A is in the middle of the intersection under a green light, and a white ambulance B approaches from behind. The card states that B uses flashing lights and a siren.
Correct answer: Clear the intersection, pull to the right edge, stop, and wait until it passes.
Why
When an emergency vehicle uses its siren and flashing lights, every other driver must yield, pull to the right edge of the road clear of any intersection, and stop until it has passed. A car that stops inside an intersection can block the route that the emergency driver needs. While you wait, keep your foot on the brake so that the emergency driver can see that you have stopped, and look for a second emergency vehicle before you pull out.
