Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
Late at night, the traffic signal at an intersection flashes yellow in your direction. What does this signal require?

Correct answer: Slow down and go through with care, watching for cross traffic.
Why
Flashing signals can replace or add to STOP signs, and some signals switch to flashing during quiet hours or when they are out of order. A flashing yellow lets you go through without stopping, but only with caution: slow down, look both ways, and yield to anyone already in the intersection. A flashing red is different; it means stop and yield, as at a STOP sign.
