Four people drive motor vehicles on public roads in West Virginia. Which person must have a West Virginia driver's license?
Correct answer: Dana, 19, moved to West Virginia two years ago and still drives with her valid Virginia license.
Why
If you live in West Virginia and drive on public roads, you must hold a West Virginia driver's license, and you must carry it when you drive. Most drivers of cars, pickup trucks and vans hold a Class E license. The exemptions are narrow: a licensed nonresident age 16 or older (up to 90 days in a calendar year), a nonresident student at a West Virginia college with a valid home-state license, and a person who drives for the U.S. armed services on duty. After you move to West Virginia, you have 30 days to apply for a West Virginia license.
