Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You drive at 62 mph on an Interstate with three lanes in your direction. Most traffic moves faster than you, and you are not passing anyone. Which lane should you use?
A is in the left lane of an Interstate with three lanes in its direction. Silver B is in the middle lane; the card states A travels at 62 mph while most traffic is faster, without selecting a lane.
Correct answer: The right lane, and move left only to pass or when a sign directs you.
Why
When slower vehicles keep right, faster drivers can pass on the left, and fewer drivers change lanes suddenly or pass on the right. On an Interstate, do not drive slower than 55 mph unless the weather or the road is bad or a lower speed is posted. Also watch for trucks and buses that enter from the right, and give them time and space to join the flow.
