You are about to back your car out of a driveway where children often play. Which way of backing is safest?
Correct answer: Walk behind the car first, then turn to look back and back up slowly.
Why
Before you back up, walk behind the vehicle to check for children, pets or objects that you cannot see from the driver's seat. While you back, turn your head and body to look through the rear window, do not depend on the mirrors, and move slowly so that you can stop at once. Wyoming law allows backing only when you can do it safely without interfering with other traffic, and never on the roadway or shoulder of a controlled-access highway such as the Interstate.
