Observation, Speed & SpaceStandalone practice
A driver is following very closely behind you on a highway. What is the best response?
C follows closely behind A in the left of two same-direction lanes. B is farther ahead, and the right lane is clear.
Correct answer: Leave more space ahead, and move right or slow a little so the driver can pass.
Why
A tailgater limits your ability to stop quickly. Increase the space ahead of you so you can slow gently if something happens, signal early, and use your brake lights well before you stop. If you can, move to the right lane or slow a little so the driver will pass. Never brake suddenly to punish the driver.
