Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
Your car is disabled on the right shoulder of the Interstate. You and a passenger need to get out of the car. How should you do it?
A disabled car is fully on the right shoulder beside two eastbound traffic lanes.
Correct answer: Get out on the right side, away from traffic, and stay off the roadway.
Why
Leave a disabled vehicle only by the doors on the side away from traffic. Do not walk along the Interstate for help; raise the hood or trunk lid, or tie a white cloth to the antenna, to show that you need help. If you cannot get the vehicle off the road, get everyone out and away from the area in case another vehicle hits it.
