Passing target: 80% (20/25)
On a two-way road, which side is normally used to pass a slower vehicle traveling in the same direction?
Blue A follows silver B in the right-hand lane of a two-way road. A broken yellow line separates the opposing lane, which is empty in this schematic snapshot.
Correct answer: The left side, when it is lawful and safe.
Why
A normal pass is made on the left only when markings, sight distance and opposing traffic allow it. If the pass uses a lane for opposing traffic, return to your authorized lane as soon as practicable and before coming within 200 feet of an approaching vehicle. Do not begin a pass unless you can complete it without interfering with oncoming or overtaken traffic.
