May a driver cross left of center to pass when approaching a hillcrest or curve with an obstructed view?
Correct answer: No; wait until you can see far enough ahead.
Why
For an ordinary pass on a two-way road, do not drive left of center where an obstructed hillcrest or curve hides approaching traffic and creates a hazard. The restriction also applies when approaching within 100 feet of or traveling through an intersection or railroad crossing, and within 100 feet of a bridge, viaduct or tunnel when the view is obstructed. The law separately excepts one-way roads, a necessary obstruction detour with proper yielding, and a left turn into or from an alley, private road or driveway. Those exceptions do not authorize the blind-curve pass described here.
