At night, how far before meeting an oncoming vehicle must a driver switch from high beams to low beams?
Correct answer: At least 500 feet.
Why
Dim high beams when within 500 feet of an approaching vehicle. Also dim them when following another vehicle less than 300 feet ahead. Do not wait until lights glare into the other driver’s eyes or mirrors.
