Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
Outside a city, a road has two lanes in your direction. You are not passing or preparing for a left turn, and no control or other legal exception applies. Which lane should you ordinarily use?
Correct answer: The right-hand lane.
Why
On a roadway with two same-direction lanes outside a city, Kansas ordinarily requires the right lane, with exceptions such as overtaking, preparing for a left turn, traffic controls or another legal requirement. On roads with three or more same-direction lanes, the statute separately restricts the far-left lane with listed exceptions. Do not use the shoulder or speed merely to satisfy another driver.
