Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are driving an ordinary passenger car. When may you overtake another vehicle on the right?
Blue car A follows silver car B in the same direction in a close roadway view. No turn signal, lane boundary, shoulder, speed or passing route is shown.
Correct answer: When safe, and the car ahead is turning left or two or more lanes go your way.
Why
A right-side pass may be made when the other vehicle is making or about to make a left turn, or when unobstructed pavement is wide enough for two or more lawful same-direction lines of vehicles. In either case, it must be safe. Do not drive off the roadway onto a shoulder to pass. The separate authorized transit-bus exception does not apply to this car.
