Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You park facing downhill on a street with a curb. How should you leave the front wheels?
A is parked facing downhill with a curb on its right. A side-profile inset shows the downhill grade; no steering choice is shown.
Correct answer: Turned toward the curb, with the parking brake set
Why
The wheel position is a backup for the parking brake and the transmission. When you face uphill next to a curb, turn the wheels away from the curb. When you face uphill with no curb, turn them toward the shoulder. In all cases, put the car in park and set the parking brake.
