Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are in the acceleration lane, near freeway speed. A truck in the right lane of the freeway is right beside you, and the acceleration lane will end soon. Who must adjust?
A nears the end of an acceleration lane with a tractor-trailer immediately beside it in the freeway lane.
Correct answer: You must slow down or speed up to fit into a safe gap, because freeway traffic has the right-of-way
Why
The acceleration lane gives you room to match speed, but it does not give you the right-of-way. Signal early so that freeway drivers know what you plan to do. If no gap opens, slow down in time and do not force your way in. A truck needs a long distance to slow down, so a car that cuts in close in front of it is in great danger.
