Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are on a two-lane street between intersections when an ambulance comes up behind you with its siren on and red lights flashing. What must you do?
A travels ahead of an ambulance on a two-lane road. The ambulance’s warning lights and siren are identified in the scene.
Correct answer: Pull as far to the right as you can, stop, and stay stopped until it passes.
Why
Section 304.022, RSMo, requires this response when an emergency vehicle approaches with a siren, or with a red light or a flashing blue light showing; the guide describes a siren or air horn together with flashing lights. If you are already in an intersection, drive through it before you pull over. After it passes, watch for more emergency vehicles and follow any directions from their loudspeakers before you move back into traffic.
