You approach a single-lane roundabout. A car already in the circle is coming toward your entry from your left, and a pedestrian is in the crosswalk at your entry. What is the correct way to enter?
A approaches a single-lane roundabout. A pedestrian crosses the entry and B comes from A’s left in the circle.
Correct answer: Yield to the pedestrian and to the car in the circle, then enter at a safe gap.
Why
Roundabouts have yield signs at every entry, and vehicles already in the circle have the right-of-way. Slow down, look to your left, yield to pedestrians and bicyclists, and merge when there is a gap, then travel counterclockwise to the right of the center island. Do not stop or change lanes inside the roundabout; if you miss your exit, go around again.
