Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
Under Missouri's uniform maximum speed limits, what is the top lawful speed on a rural interstate or rural freeway when no different limit is posted?
Correct answer: 75 mph
Why
Missouri's uniform maximums are 75 mph on rural interstates and freeways, 65 mph on rural expressways, 60 mph on interstates, freeways and expressways in urbanized areas and on other roads outside urbanized areas, and 55 mph on lettered state roads. A posted sign can set a different limit, and the posted limit is presumed to be the legal one. Even where 75 mph is allowed, you must slow down when traffic, weather or the road make that speed unsafe.
