You are on a divided highway with a wide grass median. A school bus on the other roadway, going the opposite way, stops with its red lights flashing. What must you do?
A approaches a school bus on the opposite roadway, separated by a grassy median. The bus’s red warning lights are active.
Correct answer: Go on with care; you do not have to stop for a bus on a separate road
Why
The stop rule protects children who may cross the road near the bus. When a median puts you on a totally separate road, children from the bus are not expected to cross your lanes, so you may go on with care. Traffic on the bus's own roadway must still stop. On a two-lane road, including a two-lane one-way street, every driver must stop.
