A driver is convicted of failing to stop for a school bus that was loading students. How many points go on the driver's record under the law in effect since August 28, 2026?
Correct answer: 5 points
Why
The 2026 change also sets license suspensions: a first offense may bring a court-ordered suspension, a second within five years brings 90 days, and a third within five years brings 180 days. Fines also rise with each offense, and injuring a child is a felony. The simplest way to avoid all of this is to stop whenever a school bus shows its red lights and stop arm.
