Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
You are driving on an interstate and want to stop to check your route on a map. Where should you stop?
Correct answer: At a rest area, a service area, or off the highway past an exit
Why
On a controlled-access highway you can enter and leave only at the ramps, so plan your stops for rest areas, service areas or the next exit. The shoulder is for true emergencies, such as a breakdown, and then you turn on your flashers. Planning your route before the trip and watching the guide signs removes most reasons to stop at all.
