Passing target: 80% (24/30)
Observation, Speed & SpaceStandalone practice
The posted limit is 70 mph. Heavy rain makes it hard to see, and the road is slick. You are driving at 65 mph. What does Montana law expect you to do?
Correct answer: Slow to a speed that suits the rain, even well below 70 mph.
Why
The manual suggests about 10 mph slower on a wet road, and no more than 30 mph when you can see only about 200 feet ahead. In heavy rain, tires can lose all grip on the road at about 50 mph. Slowing down gives you more time to see hazards and more grip to stop.
