Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You come to a railroad crossing. No lights are flashing, but traffic is backed up just past the tracks, so you could not get all the way across. What should you do?
A approaches a railroad crossing while two cars occupy the road just beyond it. No flashing warning is shown.
Correct answer: Stop at least 15 feet from the nearest rail and wait until your whole vehicle has room past the tracks.
Why
A vehicle that stops on the tracks can be trapped there if a train comes. Montana law treats a lack of space beyond the crossing the same way as a train warning, so you must stop before the tracks. The manual also advises you not to shift gears while you cross, so that the engine does not stall on the tracks.
