You are driving out of a parking lot onto a city street. A sidewalk crosses the exit. What must you do?
A is at a parking-lot exit crossed by a sidewalk. A person walks across the exit, and B travels along the street.
Correct answer: Stop before the sidewalk, yield to anyone on it, and then yield to traffic on the street.
Why
Walls, fences, parked cars and bushes can hide people who walk along the sidewalk until the last moment, so the stop comes before the walkway. After the stop, move out slowly and wait for a safe gap in traffic. When you turn into a driveway or alley from the street, you must also yield to pedestrians on the sidewalk.
