Passing target: 80% (20/25)
On a two-lane road, the car ahead of you stops at an intersection to turn left. To get past it on the right, you would have to drive partly on the gravel shoulder. What should you do?
B waits to turn left at an intersection on a two-lane road. A is behind it, and the space to B’s right includes a gravel shoulder.
Correct answer: Wait behind it, because you may not use the shoulder to pass on the right.
Why
Nebraska allows passing on the right only in a few cases: a vehicle that is turning or about to turn left, a road with two or more lanes going your way, or a one-way road wide enough for two lanes. Even then, the pass must be safe and must stay on the roadway. Other drivers do not expect traffic on their right, so check carefully for pedestrians and bicyclists near the edge.
