Observation, Speed & SpaceStandalone practice
You leave a town's downtown business district and turn onto a street lined with houses. No speed limit sign is posted, and your speedometer shows 30 mph. What should you do?
Correct answer: Slow down, because the unposted maximum on a residential street is 25 mph.
Why
Nebraska sets 25 mph as the maximum in residential districts unless a different limit is posted, and 20 mph in business districts. Homes bring children, pets, parked cars and people backing out of driveways, so even 25 mph can be too fast when people are near the street. Nebraska's basic speed rule always requires a speed that is safe for the conditions.
